Abstract

Background, stroke is a medical emergency that reguires prompt treatment within the “golden period” which is 3 – 4.5 hours after the initial symptoms appear. Delays in early treatment are generally caused by the family’s lack of knowledge about the early signs of stroke. This study aims to determine the level of family knowledge regarding early stroke management at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Research Objective, the objective of this study determine the overview of family knowledge regarding early stroke managamen at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Resecrch Method, The method used in this study is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach Research Results, the results of the study show that the majority of respondents (98.7%) had excellent knowledge regarding the signs and symptoms of stroke, as well as appropriate intial actions. This higt level f knowledge significantly influences the family’s readiness to perform first aid before the patient arrives at a healthcare facility. The study emphasizes the importance of continuous education for families, particularly through health counseling, training, and community-based information empowerment. With adequate knowledge, families can promptly recognize the signs of stroke (using the FAST method) and immediately take the patient to the hospital to prevent disability or death. Conclusion, The family's level of knowledge significantly affects the early management of stroke events prior to the patient's arrival at the hospital Recommendation for future researchers, It is expected that future researchers can expand or explore more hospital settings related to family knowledge in the early management of stroke incidents
