Abstract
Background: The family plays an important role in instilling values and shaping children's characters, including in regulating the use of gadgets. Although gadgets can help with learning, overuse negatively impacts a child's character, emotional, and social development. Therefore, the role of parents in regulating the use of gadgets is very crucial. Objective: The writing of this scientific paper aims to provide an overview of the Family Development Stage of School-Age Children with Ineffective Family Coping Problems and to analyze and provide interventions related to coping problems that are considered ineffective in families. Methods: This study used a case study method with a descriptive approach on three families with school-age children who used excessive gadgets. The assessment was carried out through 3 visits to evaluate the intervention, using Family Nursing Care instruments and the Gadget Use Monitoring Form. The data collection lasted for 9 days, from April 22-30, 2024. Results: After a 3-day review of 3 families, it was found that children aged 6, 7, and 8 years experienced ineffective family coping problems and health behaviors tended to be at risk. Interventions in the form of counseling on the impact of gadgets and coloring therapy are applied. As a result, the time spent on gadgets is reduced: family 1 from 7 hours to 4 hours, family 2 from 6 hours to 3 hours, and family 3 from 7 hours to 3 hours. The evaluation showed that the role of parents was very important in mentoring, and coloring therapy was considered quite effective in reducing the use of gadgets in school children. Conclusion: The application of coloring therapy during 3x visits in school-age children with gadget disorders was proven to reduce their gadget use.
