Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that can cause emotional disturbances, aggressive behavior, and impaired social functioning. The risk of violent behavior may arise due to biological, psychological, social factors, and non-adherence to medication. One nursing approach that can be used to help patients control their emotions is dhikr therapy. Objective: To describe the implementation of psychiatric nursing care for patients at risk of violent behavior through dhikr therapy to improve emotional control. Methods: This study used a case study method with a nursing process approach, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nursing diagnoses were based on the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (SDKI), namely Risk for Violent Behavior (D.0146) and Self-Care Deficit (D.0109). Nursing interventions and outcomes referred to the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI) and Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI), including anger management training, medication education, dhikr therapy, and pharmacological collaboration. Results: The evaluation showed that the patient experienced improvement in recognizing emotions, controlling anger, communicating effectively, and independently practicing relaxation techniques and dhikr. The patient appeared calmer, more cooperative, and showed reduced aggressive behavior after receiving gradual interventions. Recommendation: Dhikr therapy can be used as a supportive intervention in psychiatric nursing care to improve emotional control and reduce the risk of violent behavior in patients with schizophrenia.
