Abstract

Background, stunting is a chronic nutritional problem affecting children's growth and development. One contributing factor is the lack of maternal knowledge about nutrition. Research purposes, analyzing the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge about nutritional status and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the working area of Tambak II Health Center. Research methods, using a cross-sectional design with an analytical survey method. The research sample consisted of 100 mothers with toddlers, selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using the chi-square test. Research result, of the 100 respondents, 4% had good knowledge, 77% sufficient, and 19% poor. Stunting was found in 37% of toddlers. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and stunting (p-value = 0.044). Mothers with poor knowledge had a threefold higher risk of having stunted toddlers. Conclusion, maternal knowledge about nutrition is significantly related to stunting. Better knowledge enables proper nutritional intake. Recommendation, sustainable nutrition education through community health programs and digital media, along with increased access to nutritious food, is essential for stunting prevention.
