Abstract

Background: Back pain is one of the most common discomforts experienced by pregnant women in the third trimester due to physiological and postural changes during pregnancy. One non-pharmacological approach to reducing back pain is a combination of effleurage massage and rose aromatherapy. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the combination of effleurage massage and rose aromatherapy on back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester at Mitra Sehat Sempor. Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 38 pregnant women in their third trimester experiencing back pain, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention was administered once a week for four weeks, lasting 10–15 minutes. Result: After the intervention, the pain scale of respondents decreased to mild pain (97.4%). This indicates that the combination of effleurage massage and rose aromatherapy is effective for back pain in third-trimester pregnant women at Mitra Sehat Sempor. Conclusion: The combination of effleurage massage and rose aromatherapy demonstrates significant effectiveness in alleviating back pain in third-trimester pregnant women. Recommendations: It is necessary to conduct further studies with a comparison group, a larger number of respondents, and to consider other variables.
