Abstract
Background: Elderly people tend to be susceptible to hypertension due to decreased flexibility of the arteries. This causes an abnormal increase in blood pressure in the arteries continuously, with systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg. Objective: Describe nursing care for elderly people with hypertension by applying warm water foot soak therapy. Research Method: This research is descriptive analytical with a case study approach. Data were obtained from interviews, observations, documentation, and literature studies. This study used warm water foot soak therapy in 3 elderly people with hypertension, the instrument used was nursing care for 3 consecutive days. Results: At the time of the assessment, the three clients had a history of hypertension and blood pressure above> 140/90 mmHg so that a nursing diagnosis of ineffective cerebral perfusion risk emerged with nursing interventions for management of increased cranial pressure. The actions given used non-pharmacological therapy, namely warm water foot soak therapy for 3 days. The results after being given therapy on the third day, the client's blood pressure decreased. Conclusion: Warm water foot soak therapy can lower blood pressure and reduce signs and symptoms in elderly people with hypertension.
