Abstract

Background: The background is based on the number of adults in Kebumen Regency, totaling 902,480 people. A common health issue among adults is the increasing prevalence of hypertension. Lack of family support leads to suboptimal treatment outcomes. One of the non-pharmacological approaches to managing hypertension is foot massage relaxation therapy to help lower blood pressure. Objective: To provide an overview of family nursing care during the early adulthood developmental stage with the nursing problem of hypertension using a nonpharmacological approach through foot massage relaxation therapy. Method: This scientific paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The case study subjects were three families in the early adulthood developmental stage experiencing ineffective family health management. Result: Family nursing care at the early adulthood developmental stage with the main nursing problem of ineffective family health management included identifying family problems, interventions, therapy discussions, education, and foot massage relaxation. The evaluation results showed an increase in family knowledge, involvement in care, and a reduction in blood pressure in family members with hypertension. Recommendation: Foot massage relaxation therapy is an effective method for managing hypertension problems.
