Abstract

Background: The risk of violent behavior is something that can harm oneself or others. There are several non-pharmacological therapies that can reduce the risk of violence. One of them is Benson relaxation therapy Objective: To determine nursing care for patients at risk of violent behavior with Benson relaxation therapy at the Dosaraso Kebumen Shelter. Method: This scientific paper has been conducted using a case study method on three schizophrenia patients with a risk of violent behavior. Patients were given Benson relaxation therapy to reduce symptoms and improve abilities. Measurements were made through observation sheets that recorded the decrease in symptoms and the patient's ability to apply therapy. Results: The results obtained showed a decrease in signs of violence symptoms with an average of 4 and the highest decrease in patients 1 and 2 with a decrease of 5. There was an increase in the patient's ability to perform the Benson relaxation technique with an average of 4 and the highest increase in patient 1 with a score of 5. Recommendation: Benson relaxation therapy has been shown to reduce the risk of violent behavior symptoms. Therefore, it’s important to integrate this therapy into psychiatric nursing practice. This is a simple but effective intervention to reduce the risk of violence.
