Abstract
Background: Respiratory disorder patient with tuberculosis need fulfillment of oxygenation because of ineffective airway problem. Clearance of ineffective airway is an inability to clear secretions or obstruction of the respiratory tract to maintain clearance of the airway. This problem may be solved by giving a training of effective coughing techniques. Objective: to describe nursing care of fulfilling oxygenation need of Mr. S, patient with respiratory disorder: tuberculosis at Inayah Ward, PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Gombong. Discussion: Nursing diagnoses were ineffective airway clearance, unbalance nutrition less than body requirements related to anorexia, and knowledge deficit related to lack of information. Intervention and implementation has been done in the form of deep breathing exercises, teaching effective cough techniques, fulfilling nutrition need, and health education. The patient could effectively remove his secretion by effective coughing technique. Results: after three days of effective coughing technique to remove secretion, the patient said that shortness of breath get decreased. Conclusion: the effective coughing technique was useful enough to remove secretion and return the clearance of airway.
