Abstract
Background: Chronic renal failure is a progressive renal function disorder so that the body's ability fails to maintain metabolism, fluid and electrolyte balance. Consequently, this results in uremia and elevating level of urea and creatinine in the blood. Objective: Describing the nursing care for chronic renal failure patients having excessive fluid volume. Method: This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The data were obtained through interview, observation, physical examination, and documentation study. The subjects were 2 patients suffering from chronic renal failure with excessive fluid volume. Result: After having nursing care, the fluid volume was decreasing. The nursing plans were implemented during the clients had excessive fluid volume in the management of 3x24 hours time. Evaluation showed that the excessive fluid volume of patient I and patient II was not totally solvable. Conclusion: Patients with excessive fluid volume, especially those with regular hemodialisis twice a week, require long-term care to balance the need of fluid. The increase in the body weight of in between-hemodialysis is not more than 2 kg so that ultrafiltration of hemodialysis is about 2 liters.
