Abstract
Background: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a medical treatment room for critical patients requiring immediate action in handling bodily functions. ICU may cause stress for the family of the patient. Objective: To know the family stress level of long-stay patient in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of dr. Soedirman hospital of Kebumen. Method: This study is a quantitative descriptive with survey approach. The samples are 151 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Result: This study results in the findings that most of the respondents can be categorized by mature age (78.7%), non-formal jobs (82.0%), school education (62.3%), nuclear family (61%), Most respondents were in normal stress category (80.3%).Their stress cause was physical category (54.1%), the stress source was personality (75.4%), and the stress type was anxiety (60.7%).
