Abstract
Background: A long time labor process is one of the causes of maternal death in Indonesia. To overcome this, it is necessary to provide emotional support through visual mirror method. This method can provide information about the developing process of infant expenditure through the mother's sense of vision. By doing so, the emotional condition of the mother becomes tougher. It will increase the spirit of the mother to strain so that it can shorten the time of the second stage of labor. In the society, a labor process in stage II is usually done by the dorsal recumbent position. The mother gets information about the developing process of the baby's expenditure only from a midwife or a doctor without looking directly at the labor process. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying visual method using mirror to accelerate the labor process in stage II. Objective: To know the effectiveness of visual method by using mirror in labor process of stage II of primipharous maternal mothers in independent midwifery clinic of Midwife Aning Friyanti. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. Data were obtained through interviews and direct observation. The study was conducted from March to May 2018. Result: After applying visual method using mirror in the labor process of stage II, the straining frequency of all participants became more effective in accordance with the presence of his. Besides, the time of stage II was normal, i.e. participant 1 lasted in 30 minutes with 6 times straining frequency, participant 2 lasted in 30 minutes with 8 times straining frequency, participant 3 lasted in 30 minutes with 7 times straining frequency, participant 4 lasted in 20 minutes with 6 times straining frequency, and participant 5 lasted in 20 minutes with 5 times straining frequency. Conclusion: Visual method by using mirror is effective to accelerate the duration of labor process in stage II of primipharous mothers.
