Abstract
Background: One of the obstacles at breastfeeding is the mothers milk dam than breastfeeding impact will be caused dam is not resolved mastitis, breast abscess and baby's nutritional needs will be less fulfilled. Objective: Determining the description of the incidence of ASI dams in postpartum mothers in PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: This study used a descriptive design with a survey approach. The sample amounted to 52 postpartum mothers taken by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results: Most postpartum mothers with normal age groups were 50 respondents (20-35 years) (96.2%) and primiparous parity categories were 30 respondents (57.7%). The most common signs of breast milk symptoms in postpartum mothers are breast pain when pressed, which is 48 respondents (92.3%), and the least occur is body temperature to 38 o C which is 5 respondents (9.6%). The most common causes of breast milk in postpartum mothers were emptying of incomplete mammals, namely 42 respondents (80.8%) and the least occurring was too long nipples which were 9 respondents (17.3%). The most impact of ASI dam on postpartum mothers is that they feel uncomfortable, namely 50 respondents (96.2%) and the least occurring is mothers who do not want to breastfeed, namely 7 respondents (13.5%). Conclusion: Postpartum mothers experienced breast engorgement because emptying of incomplete mammals with signs of breast symptoms is painful when pressed and has an impact on discomfort. Recommendation: It is hoped that the next researcher will be conducting research with different methods, developing variables that cause breast engorgement so that better results can be obtained
