Abstract
Background: Hypertension is the most common disease in Indonesian. In 2008 hypertension was on the second rank of ten common diseases indicated by the prevalence 4,76%. From the point of view of health, music is a series of beautiful sound having a tremendous effect on the body health. Meanwhile, music therapy is the use of musical ability and musical elements by therapists to improve and maintain physical health. The side effect of music therapy is smaller than medical therapy. Objective: To discribe the application of classical musik to lower down the blood pressure of hypertension patient. Methods: The scientific paper is an analytical desciptive with a case study approach. Data were obtained through interview, observation, physical examation and documentation study. The subject was a hypertension patient having high blood pressure. Results: After having application of classical music therapy, there was a decrease in blood pressure of hypertension patient by 8-10 mmHg and diastolic blood oressure by 3-5 mmHg. Conclusion: The application of classical music therapy can be lowering blood pressure patient hypertension and music therapy is a thechnique that is very easy to do an affordable. The effect suggest that music can affect the tension or condition relaxed on a person.
