Abstract

Background: In Indonesia, in 2013 showed an increase in the prevalence of stroke. While the Kebumen Regency region itself prevalence of stroke incidence increased from 533,194 people over the age of 40 years, there were 214,565 people (40.2%) having strokes (Dinkes Kebumen, 2016). Some lifestyle factors that can cause stroke include smoking, drinking alcohol, consumption of fatty foods / cholesterol, and the lack of exercise. Objective: To find out the relationship between lifestyle and stroke incidence in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Sruweng. Method: This study is a quantitative correlation study with a cross approach and the number of samples of 66 patients taken using accidental sampling technique. Results: Most of the stroke incidence in PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital were non-hemorrhagic strokes (71.2%). The lifestyle of stroke patients is mostly in the bad category (54.5%). Conclusion: There is a relationship lifestyle with the incidence of stroke in PKU Muhammadiyah Sruweng Hospital. Recommendation: Hospitals should provide and improve education in providing information to patients and the general public concerning risk factors associated with stroke incidence, especially to improve lifestyle.
