Abstract

Background: Health is one of the important factors in human life. In living life, someone also needs a job, where one of them is as a driver of public transportation. Drivers play an important role in carrying out daily activities. However, sometimes drivers also experienced health problems. Where these health problems can be influenced by characteristics such as age, distance travelled, length of time being a driver, frequency of riding, marital status or marriage. Health problems that may be experienced by drivers such as lower back pain, stress, fatigue, hypertension and respiratory tract disorders. Objectives: Finding out of the health problems experienced by drivers public transport in Terminal and Traditional Market Gombong. Method: This research used a descriptive quantitative design method with a cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted at the Terminal and Traditional Market of Gombong on May 13, 2019 – May 25, 2019 using a sample of 78 respondents driver to public transportation. The data was taken by using quesionare about health problems and characteristics that affect health problems in drivers public transportation, as well as blood pressure observation sheets. Data analysis using frequency distribution analysis. Results: From the research conducted, it was found that 78 respondents affected health problems dominated by age 65,5%, marital status 97,4%, mileage 32,1%, driving frequency 61,5% and length of time driving 84,6%. While those who experienced health problems with lower back pain were 34,6%, stress due to work 9,0%, fatigue 26,9%, hypertension 6,4% and respiratory tract disorders 47,4%. Conclusion: Based on the results of the research the most dominant health problems were respiratory tract disorders as many as 10 respondents 12,8%. Recommendations: For further researchers can examine more specific health problems by linking existing characteristic to different sample sizes and different research designs.
