Abstract
Background: Picky eater is one of the factors that can be affected by the nutritional status of children preschool. In Indonesia, picky eater happened to children around 20%, of child picky eater around 44.5% experienced malnutrition light to medium, and around 79.2% have experience picky eater more from 3 months. In this case, parenting should be more understanding to influence of the development food to children. Especially mother very needed to improve pattern eat in children preschool. Objective: Finding out the relationship of parenting with a habit of choosing food (picky eater) in children preschool Kindergarten in Aisyiyah I Gombong at Kebumen Regency. Research Methods: This research used a descriptive correlative method with a cross-sectional approach. Retrieval a technique samples used simple random sampling with the total as much 67 respondents. The collection data used a questionnaire from by analyzing data using a correlation test Kendal Tau with level significant 0.05. Results: The results showed that 27 children (40.3%) of parents who adopted democratic parenting experienced good picky eater habits, parents who adopted sufficient democratic parenting as many as 11 children (16.4%) experienced picky eater habits, and 1 child ( 1.5%) parents apply less democratic parenting who experience picky eater habits. Conclusion: The result showed there is a relationship of parenting with habits of choosing food (picky eater) in children preschool Kindergarten in Aisyiyah I Gombong at Kebumen Regency. Recommendations: This research hoped that it can become a reference material to add scientific insight especially for parents about how to handle picky eater properly and supervision of children related the picky eater
