Abstract

Background: Transurethral resection prostate (TURP) is one of the most common surgical procedures to treat prostate enlargement. One of the most common things is postoperative pain. Relaxation techniques aim to provide comfort and relaxation to the patient, can reduce pain intensity, and can improve lung ventilation and increase blood oxygen. One technique that nurse can do is a five-fingers relaxation technique. Objective: To describe nursing care by providing five-fingers hypnosis therapy to reduce pain in postoperative BPH patients. Method: The type of design in this study is a case study with a sample of 2 patients post BPH surgery. Five fingers hypnosis therapy intervention was given to both patients without any difference. Result : After being given a five fingers hypnosis relaxation intervention, the pain felt by the two patients proved to decrease. Recommendation : Giving non-pharmacological actions in reducing pain such as five fingers hypnosis relaxation techniques can be applied as on of the supporting actions in nursing.
