Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a condition where a person experiences an increase in high blood pressure above the normal limit, which is characterized by headache. Headache occurs due to atherosclerosis which causes spasm of the blood vessels in the brain. To overcome this pain can be treated with pharmacological therapy, SEFT therapy is one of the nonpharmacological therapies. Objectives: Determining of the effect of Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) therapy on headache intensity in hypertensive patients in PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: This study used a Quasi Experiment research design (pretest-posttest with control group design). The sample size is 42 respondents, using consecutive sampling technique and data analysis using t-Test. Results: The results of the study showed before being given SEFT therapy with a scale of 5 were respondents (66,7%), and pain intensity after being given SEFT therapy with a scale of 2 were 6 respondents (28,6%), scale 3 as many as 8 respondents (38,1%), scale 4 as many as 7 respondents (33,3%). By using independent t-Test, the value of p value is 0,016 (p< 0,05). which means that patients who were given SEFT therapy and who were not given SEFT therapy had significant differences. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the intensity of headache in hypertensive patients before and after SEFT therapy. Recommendation: For further researchers can be examineed similar problems with a greater number of samples and different research designs.
