Abstract
Background: Baby care in intensive care is situation that causes stress, anxiety and depression for caregivers. The anxiety conditions have impact on the caring process for high-risk babies, so that it requires nursing care for the caregivers of babies. Objective: to describe a case study of the anxiety levels of the baby’s caregivers in high-risk baby care room. Method: This research used descriptive method with a case study approach on two mothers of babies treated in the high-risk baby care room at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen State Hospital who experience anxiety. Evaluation of anxiety signs and symptoms used anxiety and depression assessment instruments, namely the Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS). Results: The evaluation results showed decrease of signs and symptoms of anxiety of Client 1 by 5 scores that was smaller than Client 2 by 8 scores. Client 1 and Client 2 have an equal increase of ability to overcome anxiety by making deep breaths i.e. 16.6%. There was an increase of ability to perform 5 fingers hypnosis by both clients i.e. Client 1 was 71.4% less than Client 2 of 85.7%. Recommendation: to improve the provision of anxiety nursing care to caregivers of babies treated in high-risk baby care room.
