Abstract
Background : Patients with low self-esteem are mental health patients who consider themselves worthless, insignificant and prolonged low self-esteem due to negative evaluations of themselves. This causes patients to have low self-esteem which is difficult to communicate with others. One alternative to increase self-esteem in patients is low self-esteem with gardening occupational therapy. Objecrive : Increasing the self-esteem of patients with chronic low self-esteem with occupational gardening therapy planting chili in the work area of Sruweng Health Center Method : This scientific paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach in 2 patients with low self-esteem. Data were obtained through interviews and observations using instruments to assess chronic low self-esteem signs and symptoms and observation sheets of patients' ability to do gardening occupational therapy. Results : After the application of occupational therapy to gardening, planting chili in a polybag in patients with low self-esteem was obtained as a result of a decrease in signs and symptoms of low self-esteem at P1 of 3 scores and in P2 of 4 scores. In addition, the results of the increase in the ability to plant chili in P1 were 54,6% and in P2 45,5%. Recommendation : Nurses are advised to apply gardening occupational therapy in providing nursing care to increase self-esteem in patients with low self-esteem
