Abstract
Background: Lung Tuberculosis (Lung TB) has been established as a global emergency for humanity by WHO. Indonesia is the country with the fifth largest tuberculosis patients in the world after India, China, South Africa and Nigeria. The number of tuberculosis patients in Indonesia is around 5.8% of the total TB patients in the world. Factors that cause tuberculosis can be viewed from lifestyle, demography and living environment. Objective: To find out the characteristics of patients with pulmonary TB in the Outpatient Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Method: This study used a descriptive method with a survey approach. The sample in this study were 56 patients taken by consecutive sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire sheet. Data was analyzed using descriptive analysis. Results: Most of the patients were productive (15-50 years) (62.5%), male sex (64.3%), and basic education level (62.5%). The majority of patients with adequate prevention of smoking exposure behavior (41.1%). Most of the patients in the living environment were in the healthy category (83.9%). Most patients with geographical conditions live in lowland categories (87.5%). Conclusion: Pulmonary TB patients in the Outpatient Room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital are of productive age, male sex, basic education, prevention of smoking-exposed behaviors in sufficient categories, healthy living environment and geographical conditions of lowland dwellings Recommendation: Other researchers are expected to conduct research with wider coverage and more diverse risk factors, and use different methods and analysis so that they can obtain better results to find out the factors associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB
