Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a common public health problem in developing countries. It is the second highest cause of death in Indonesia. This disease is categorized as the silent disease because the patients are not aware that they suffer from hypertension before checking blood pressure. Objective: To describe the factors recurrence rate of hypertensive patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Sruweng. Methods: The present study used quantitative descriptive methods with cross sectional approach. There were 55 respondents taken by total sampling technique. Collecting data was conducted from hypertensive patients who stayed at inpatient care. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Results: Respondents had recurrence of hypertension due to some factors such as heredity (54,5 %), smoking habit (36,4 %), dietary factors due to salted food (40 %), and stress level with disruption of sleep patterns (34,5 %). Suggestions: The hospital should be the best support system for the patients by providing comfortable atmosphere for them to reduce stress level and to get healthy lifestyle.
