Abstract
Background: Schizophrenic sufferers who are at risk of violent behavior increase every year. Patients who have undergone treatment at the hospital often experience healing because of lack of family knowledge in giving care at home. Families need knowledge and information on how to deal with family members with mental disorders and coping skills to deal with problems. Then it needs health education to increase the level of knowledge and care for patients with disorders of the risk of violent behavior. Objective: Provide an overview of nursing care by providing health education to the families of patients at risk of violent behavior to increase knowledge and improve care. Method: Using a descriptive method with a case study approach on 2 families of patients at risk of violent behavior. Data is collected by interview, observation, documentation. The instrument used was family ability observation sheet and pre test and post test questionnaire. Results: In the patient's family 1 the level of knowledge increased from enough (50%) to good (70%). At the patient level 2 the level of knowledge increased from enough (40%) to be sufficient (60%). The results of the care of the patient's family 1 and the patient's family 2 for 3 meetings occurred at the assessment of 0 that is not knowing the patient's care faced difficulties 5 namely being able to teach the treatment of deep breathing exercises, with mattress pillows, medicine, spiritual, assertive speech. Recommendations: Nurses can apply to improve their ability to care for family members who are at risk of violent behavior.
