Abstract
Background: Lack of knowledge about early detection so many cases are late and the death of fertile-age caused by breast cancer so that efforts need to be made to increase knowledge through self-breast education. See the fact then, it is necessary to observe the behavior of early detection of breast cancer for women of fertile-age women. This is in the form of knowledge and skill that have an important impact to increase their awareness in improving early health, therefore the authors are interested in providing counseling using slide and breast phantom. Objective: Knowing the application of health education using slide and breast phantom media for increasing knowledge and skill of fertile-age women in self-breast examination. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive. Data were obtained through interview. The respondents were 5 fertile-age women aged 20-45 years. The instruments were questionnaires, breast phantom and procedural operation standard of self-breast examination. Result: After having health education using slide and breast phantom, there was an improvement of knowledge – from enough category became good (participant 1, 2, and 3), from less category became good (participant 5), from less category became enough category (participant 4). Meanwhile, the improvement of skill is low category became high (participant 1, 2, 3, 5), very low category became is being category (participant 4). Conclusion: Application of slide and breast phantom media in health education can increase knowledge and skill of fertile-age women about self-breast examination
