Abstract
Background: Low birth weight (LBW) is a baby born with a body weight of less than 2500 grams without taking into account his gestational period. LBW can experience respiratory problems as a result of inadequate lung surfactant deficiency Nesting is one of the nursing interventions in providing the right position in the neonate. Nesting on LBW is effective in improving growth, demonstrating comfort, and stabilizing physiological parameters, namely LBW, axillary, pulse and respiration temperature Objective: describe the results of nursing care about nesting in low birth weight babies with ineffective breathing patterns. Method: This scientific work uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study instrument uses an observation sheet to study the ineffectiveness of breath patterns and Nesting SOPs. Data obtained from the results of observation of interviews, physical examinations, and study documentation. The subjects consisted of 3 low birth weight babies with the main problem being ineffective breathing patterns. Results of nursing care: The results of the studies conducted on LBW patients obtained data on the results of preliminary data in nursing diagnoses which showed patients experiencing shortness of breath with RR 68-72 x / minute. The priority nursing diagnosis in LBW patients is the ineffectiveness of the breathing pattern associated with hyperventilation. Nursing interventions carried out are respiratory monitors, giving O2 with innovative nursing nesting actions. The implementation of nursing is carried out namely respiratory monitor (3350): Monitor speed, rhythm, depth and difficulty breathing. Note chest movements, note the asymmetry of the use of breathing muscle aids and retraction of the supraclavicular muscle and intercostal. In addition to breathing monitors, the authors also applied nesting nursing. The results of nursing evaluations in LBW patients, nursing problems ineffective breathing pattern are overcome with an indication of a decrease in Respiratory rate (RR) 1-2 x / minute. Nesting Action Innovations effectively deal with Ineffective Breath Patterns in infants with low birth weight. After nesting nursing, there was a decrease in Respiratory rate (RR) of 1-2 x / minute. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for the preparation of SOPs for management of LBW who experience ineffective breathing patterns associated with hyperventilation using nesting nursing.
