Abstract

Background: Head injury is a sudden blow or impact on the head with or without loss of consciousness, complaining of dizziness and pain. The way to deal with the pain can be pharmacology and non-pharmacology, for non-pharmacology one of them can be done by slow deep breathing therapy. Research purposes: To determine the effect of slow deep breathing to decrease pain scale mild head injury patients in emergency room PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Method:This research is intervention, the method used is quasi exsperiment approach grupo pretest-posttest control design. The population in this study were 40 respondents, sampling derngan consecutive sampling, data collection was conducted on June 25nd -July 25th , 2019. The instrument used is the observation sheet and tool measurement scale NRS (numerical rating scale). Research result:Based on these results obtained, the characteristics of the age of majority is as much as adults in the intervention group (60%), while the control group as many (55%). Gender majority are men in the intervention group as many (70%), whereas in the control group (75%). The test results paired samples t-test one test on the pair obtained sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000, because sig <0.05, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average of the pre-test to post-test intervention intervention , while the second pair obtained sig. (2-tailed) = 0.021, because sig> 0.05 it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average of the pre-test to post-test control control. Conclusion: There is a slow deep breathing effect against acute pain scale in the intervention group mild head injury with P value = 0.000. Recommendation: As information and knowledge about pain management in patients with mild head injury with a slow deep breathing technique
