Abstract
Background: According to World Health Organization (WHO), in 2014 there were 178 million under-five children suffered from stunting (a developmental disorder caused by malnutrition). In 2013 the national prevalence of stunting babies was 37.2% (12.1% of thin and very thin babies, 19.6% of underfed babies, 11.9 of over-nutrition babies). This shows that the nutritional situation in Indonesia cannot be separated from the problem of growth disorders (stunting). Therefore, the writer applies an educational innovation by using audio-visual media and modules for improving knowledge and behavior of mothers about giving breast milk complementary food to babies aged 6-24 months. Objective: Conducting educational application using audio-visual media and modules for improving knowledge and behavior of mothers about giving breast milk complementary food to 6- 24 months babies in independent midwifery clinic of Midwifery Hariyati, A.Md. Keb. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study. This implementation involves five participants. Result: After having education about breast-milk complementary food, there was an improvement in all participants having good knowledge and behavior. This can also give effect, i.e. increasing the baby’s weight ranging 0,2 kg-0,5 kg. Conclusion: Implementation of education using audio-visual media and modules can effectively improve the mother’s knowledge and behavior regarding to the provision of breast-milk complementary food to babies in the age of 6-24 months.
