Abstract

Background: Severe brain injury is when the GCS is less orequal to 8. The ineffectiveness of the airway cleansing is the inability to clear the secreations/obstruction of the airways to maintain airway clearance. To reduce the excessive secretion, suction is carried out. Objective: Analyze nursing care with the main problem of ineffectiveness of airway clearance in COB patients. Method: This scientific work uses a case study design, how to retrieve data by interview, observation, medical records. Results of nursing care: The evaluation results show that nursing diagnoses are ineffective in cleaning the airway. Nursing actions given are suction every 1 hour performed on three patients, with each increasing frequency of breathing becoming normal and additional breath sounds diminishing. Recommendation: It is hoped that the researcher can then become a reference and become a comparison material in the next case study in conducting case studies patients with airway inefefctiveness.
