Abstract
Background: Hypertension is one of the health problem in elderly people whose common causes can be strokes and heart attacks (hypertension), hypertension is also often called the silent killer because it only causes a few symptoms so that a person can suffer from hypertension without knowing it. Based on data from the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2013, the most diseases in the elderly were hypertension (57.6%), arthritis (51.9%), and stroke (46.1%). Health education affects a person's knowledge, so that he can improve his health. General Purpose: Describe elderly family nursing care for hypertension with the ineffectiveness of health care in Pesanggrahan village, Kroya sub-district, Cilacap district. Nursing Care Results: Nursing problems that arise are the ineffectiveness of health care due to lack of knowledge on elderly families with hypertension problems, the intervention provided is the sprovision of health education before and after the three elderly families using media leaflets and flipcharts. The results of the implementation before being given health education to Mr. K is 4%, Mr. A 50% and Mrs. S 40%, and after being given health education Mr. 90% K, Mr. A 100%, Mrs. S 100%. So that the evaluation of the three elderly families with hypertension experienced an increase in knowledge about hypertension. Recommendation: Health education needs to be done for elderly families with hypertension so that the elderly family is effective in maintaining their health.
