Abstract

Background Hyperbilirubinemia is a place of the neonate where bilirubin levels of more than 10 mg/dl are characterized by jaundice in the eye, nails, skin which becomes pathological and is used to fight brain damage (kernicterus). Fhototherapy is the first choice of therapy for infants with hyperbilirubinemia, in addition nursing position exchange action during phototherapy to accelerate the decrease in bilirubin. Objective Explain nursing care about neonatal position exchange on phototherapy with the problem of hyperbilirubinemia in Melati Room of Prof. RSUD. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Method This scientific work uses a descriptive case study design, how to retrieve data by observing position exchange action every 3 hours for all three patients during an 18 hour phototherapy. Results of nursing care The evaluation results show that the nursing diagnosis of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is resolved. Nursing measures given are position exchange (change in right, tilted left and prone position) every 3 hours during an 18 hour phototherapy performed on three patients, each of which has an average reduction in total bilirubin levels of 9.55 mg/dl, direct bilirubin 0.15 mg/dl and indirect bilirubin 9.40 mg/dl. Recommendation It’s expected the next researcher can carry out research on phototherapy position exchange nursing actions by criteria of different patients and phototherapy devices using two phototherapy lamps, namely upper and lower lights in neonates hyperbilirubinemia.
