Abstract
Background: Hyperglycemia is a condition of blood glucose levels rising above the normal limit. This condition can be caused by various diseases, but most often caused by diabetes mellitus, both type I and type II. The impact of hyperglycemia that occurs from time to time can cause damage to various body systems, especially nerves and blood vessels. One of the complementary therapies that might be an alternative in stabilizing blood sugar is a therapy for slow deep breathing. Objective: to describe the results of nursing care at the stage of advanced family development with the risk of instability of glucose levels in the blood in patients with diabetes mellitus Method: This scientific work uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. Case study instruments using Nursing Kits (GDS) and Slow Deep Breathing SOPs. Data obtained from the results of observation of interviews, physical examinations, and study documentation. The subjects consisted of 3 DM clients with the problem of the risk of glucose level instability. Results of nursing care: The results of the study of the three patients found patient data complained of the risk of instability of glucose levels in the blood. Nursing diagnoses that arise are instability of glucose levels in the blood associated with a lack of family knowledge about how to prevent and treat diabetes mellitus. Interventions that have been done to overcome the instability of glucose levels in the blood are slow deep breathing. The implementation that has been done is slow deep breathing. The results of the study of glucose levels in the blood obtained by slow deep breathing are effective in reducing glucose in the blood in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Slow deep breathing is effective in reducing glucose in the blood in diabetic patients. Recommendation: It is expected that the provision of slow deep breathing can be applied in nursing practice in patients with diabetes mellitus.
