Abstract
Background: Thrombocytopenia is a severe sick children common symptom and common laboratory abnormalities. It is reported that its incidence varies 13-58%. Thrombocytopenia patients may have unsufficient one or more basic needs such as comfort need, nausea. Objective: to describe nursing care of fulfilling comfort need (nausea ) to child “R” In Melati Ward, Dr. Soedirman Hospital of Kebumen. Nursing care: The nursing assesment showed that the first nursing diagnosis was nausea associated with stomach irritation supported by subjective data: the client's mother said that her daughter “R” had nausea and no appetite. Her vital signs were 36,90C temperature; 90 bpm pulse, 28 tpm respiration, 90/60 mmHg blood pressure. Based on these data, the nursing diagnosis was comfort need: nausea. Interventions and implementations were the management of nausea and management of drugs such as assessing the level of nausea and factors that cause clients nausea, evaluating the effects of nausea on client’s appetite, suggesting to eat little but often and served interestingly, motivating to take a rest and adequate sleep to reduce nausea, collaborating the doctor to order sucralfate 1 gram orally, giving 580 mg ceftriaxone injection, performing nutritional assessment. The evaluation results for the nursing diagnosis showed that nausea associated with stomach irritation has been resolved. Analysis of Nursing Treatment: motivated to perform adequate bed rest will be able to give good influence to secure the fulfillment convenient for nausea
