Abstract
Background: Elderly is someone who has entered the age of 60 years and above. Disease that accompanies the aging process for the elderly, one of which is hypertension. Hypertension is a physical disorder in the elderly. Hypertension consists of two classifications namely primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Normal blood pressure 120/80 mmHg, abnormal blood pressure higher 120/80 mmHg. Hypertension consists of two classifications namely primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Headache is an unpleasant sensation that involves emotions with or without tissue damage. Nonfarmacology therapy to reduce pain is one of them is deep breathing and distraction techniques that have the benefit of relieving acute and chronic pain by doing it constantly. Aim: Apply non-pharmacological actions of relaxation and distraction to reduce pain in hypertensive patients in Kejiwan Village, Wonosobo Regency. Method: This scientific paper uses descriptive case study design. The case study subjects were 3 elderly patients with hypertension, who experienced acute pain problems. data collection using observation, interview and documentation study techniques. Results: Of the three clients, the main nursing problem is acute pain associated with biological injury agents. The scale of pain from 3 to 0 from the three respondents so that the application of relaxation and distraction techniques is very influential and effective for elderly patients with hypertension with complaints of pain. Conclusion: After the relaxation and distruction techniques have been carried out a decrease in acute pain from a medium scale to a mlid scale.
