Abstract
Background: Labor is identical to the pain that will be experienced. For mothers who have given birth, labor pain is the most painfull pain especially for mothers who are feeling it for the first time. Pain in labor can be reduced by pharmacological or non-pharmacological therapy. Non-pharmacological techniques include the effleurage massage technique on the back. Objective: describe the results of nursing care by applying effleurage massage to reduce labor pain in normal delivery clients when the active phase. Method: This scientific work uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The case study instrument uses a pain assessment observation sheet and SOP back massage efflurage. Data obtained from the results of observation sheet and SOP back massage efflurage. Data obtained from the results of observation of interviews, physical examinations, and study documentation. Subjects consisted 0f 3 normal delivery clients during the first active phase with the main problem of labor pain. Results of nursing care: Nursing diagnosis on the client is labor pain related to labor. The actions taken in handling labor pain problems are related to labor, the authors perform pain management and efflurage massage on the back. The evaluation results show that nursing problems in labor pain sre resolved. There was a decrease in the scale of pain before and after the innovation of massage efflurage in normal delivery clients. Recommendation: It is expected that massage effleurage during the active phase I can be used as a SOP in maternity nursing care comprehensively in the mother during the first phase of the active phase, especially to reduce pain.
