Abstract
Background: The youngest age of young girls having menarche was 9 years old. Those who have earlier menarche will experience maturity of their reproductive organs. This may be risky for their sexual behavior and early pregnancy. A quarter of teenagers never talk about menstruation before they get menarche. In this case, they must be ready to have menarche. The writer, therefore, is interested in providing education by applying lecturing method and simulation game. Objective: This study aims at knowing the application of lecturing method and simulation game to improve the knowledge and readiness of young girls for menarche. Method : This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive. Data were obtained through interviews and observations. This study was conducted on March 29, 2019. The participants were 5 teenage girls. The instruments were questionnaire sheet, media of snake and ladder game, and procedural operation standard of simulation game. Result: After having education by applying lecturing method and simulation game, there was an increase in knowledge and readiness of teenage-girls in facing menarche, i.e. from all of the participant (100%) had less knowledge and not ready became well-knowledge and ready. Conclusion: Health education about menarche by using lecturing method and simulation game is effective and useful to improve knowledge and readiness of teenage girls for menarche.
