Abstract

Background: Emesis gravidarum is a normal symptom that often occurs in the first trimester of pregnancy. In 2010 Word Health Organisationin estimated that at least 14% of all mothers suffered from emesis gravidarum. According to Indonesian Health Department, there were 522,568 pregnant mothers in Indonesia in 2013, and 14 % of them suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum. While in Central Java there were 27, 65%. Emesis gravidarum can be treadted by conducting pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatmens. One of nonpharmacological treatments is by giving lavender oil aromatheraphy. This kind of aromatherapy has a calming and antispasmodic effect. Besides, it can also reduce stress and create relaxing state. Furthermore, it can stimulate the production of body sedative, so that it can reduce pain and parasympathetic, improve the work of parasympathetic nerves. Besides, it can create mood so as to reduce stress. Peppermint oil aromatheraphy can be used to relax the cramping muscles, to improve ingestion and digestion. It can also reduce the occurrence of nausea and vomiting and ovecome the inability of flatus. Objective: Applying lavender oil and pappermint oil aromatheraphy to decrease nausea and vomaiting of trimester 1 pregnant mothers.. Method: This scientific papper is an analytical descriptive with a case study metdhd. The facts of the assessment were obtained through interviews, evaluation, and documentation. The participants were 5 pregnant mothers in trimester I. Result: After having application of lavender oil and pappermint oil aromatheraphy twice a day during 7 days, there was a decrease in the scale of nausea and vomiting of all participants, i.e medium becomes light. Conclusion: Lavender oil and pappermint oil aromatheraphy can decrease the frequency of nausea and vomiting of pregnant mothers in trimester I.
