Abstract
Background: The high risk disturbance before labor processwas 19.8% happened in developing countries, such as Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe (WHO, 2013). The disturbance is depression or anxiety.In 2008 there were 373 million pregnant mothers in Indonesia having anxiety, and 107 million (28.7%) of them had anxiety before labor (delivery) process.Furthermore, there were 679,765 pregnant mothers in Java had anxiety in facing labor. To overcome the anxiety,it can be done by applying back massage using jasmine oil. Objective: To find out the application of back massage using jasmine oil for reducing anxiety of maternal mothers in their active phase of the first stage. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. Data were obtained through interviews, evaluation, and documentation. The participants were 5 maternal mother in active phase of the first stage. Result: After having application of back massage using jasmine oil for 20 minutes, there was a decrease of anxiety level of all participants, i.e. from severe anxiety became moderate anxiety. Conclusion: Back massage using jasmine oil can helpmaternal mothers in active phase of the first stage reduce their anxiety level.
