Abstract
Background: Secure and protection need, thermoregulation (hyperthermia). Thermoregulation need of hyperthermia is one of the basic human needs needed to fulfill. Complications may occur if it is not handled very well. They are dehydration, lack of oxygen, fever above 400C, febrile seizures, and finally death. Objective: to describe nursing care of fulfilling secure and protection need, thermoregulation(hyperthermia) to a child “f” at Melati Ward Dr. Soedirman State Hospital of Kebumen. Discussions: Nursing diagnoses were hyperthermia related to the infection process, anxious related to health status, sleep pattern disorder related to an increase of body temperature. Interventions were monitoring vitalsigns, suggesting to take more rest, providing treatment to prevent the occurrence of fever, collaborating medicines as order, giving a warm compress as necessary, building a trust relationship, giving health education, involving the patient’s family, providing a comfortable environment, giving reinforcement to use effective coping resources, suggesting that parentsshould always beside the child or client, keeping the patient clean and comfort, involving the family to lull the patient. Implementations were monitorin vital signs, giving paracetemol infusion of 4x300 mg, switching again to the infusion of RL 18 drops per minute, recommending to increase more rest, providing a comfortable environment, building a trust relationship, providing counseling, involving family, giving reinforcement to use effective coping resources, recommending parents should always beside the child. Results: the evaluation conducted for two days found that hyperthermia was resolved, anxiety and sleeping pattern disorder were temporarily resolved.
