Abstract

Background: Diarrhea is a disease with a high incidence in the world more than 1.7 billion cases every year. This disease often causes death on children under five years old (toddlers). In one year about 760.000 children aged under five died of the disease (WHO, 2013). Therefore, the writer is interested in applying the audio-visual and calendar media to improve knowledge and attitude of mother in the management of diarrhea of children (toddlers) at the age of 1-4 years. Objevtive: Applying audio-visual and calendar media to improve knowledge and and attitude of mothers in the management of diarrhea of children aged 1-4 years. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study. The participants were 5 mothers. data was obtained from interview, observation, and documentation. Result: After applying audiovisual and calendar media, there was an increase of knowledge. Conclusion: The application of audio-visual and calendar media can help improve the knowledge and attitude of mothers in the management of diarrhea of children in the age of 1-4 years.
