Abstract
Background: Stroke is a neurological fuction disorder characterized by damage to brain tissue caused by a lack of blood supply to the brain. Stroke can cause loss consciousness in need of care in the ICU. Stroke patients admitted to the ICU will cause anxiety and depression in the patients family. Objective: Fainding out of anxiety and families patients depression in with stroke treated in the Intensive Care Unit at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This study used quantitative methods with descriptive analytic design with the cross-sectional approach. samples were 40 respondents taken by total sampling. Results: This study showed that anxiety in families of patients with stroke is subjected to severe anxiety as much as 26 respondents (65.0%), anxiety was as much as 10 respondents (25.0%) and mild anxiety as much as 4 respondents (10.0%). While depression in relatives of patients with stroke most of the respondents had still within yhe normal range as much as 27 respondents (67.5%), mild depression as much as 8 respondents (20.0%) and depression were as many as five people (12.5%). Conclusion: most relative of patients with stroke experience severe anxuety as much as 26 respondents (65.0) and depressed most are still in the normal range as much 27 respondents 965.5%). Recommendation: Fo fuure reseacher examining the factors that affect the incidence of anxiety and depression experienced by relative of patients with in-depth interviews (qualitative method).
