Abstract

Background: Heart failure is a condition where the heart as a pump is unable to meet the needs for the body's metabolism, the failure of heart activity to fulfill the body's needs, the overall function of the heart pump is not running normally. In patients with congestive heart failure often have difficulty maintaining oxygen so they tend to shortness of breath. To increase the amount of oxygen entering the lungs can be done with oxygen therapy using nasal prong which aims to increase oxygen saturation. Objective: To explain the nursing care given to patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) with the problem of ineffective breathing patterns in Prof. Hospital Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Methods: This type of writing design uses descriptive case studies. Subjects in writing this case study were male patients aged 40-75 years with nursing problems of ineffective breathing patterns in CHF in the Emergency Department (IGD) Prof. Hospital. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto. Results: The results of this evaluation indicate that shortness of breath in nursing problems ineffective breathing patterns are reduced, and need to monitor oxygen flow, semifowler position/position 45˚ to reduce shortness of breath, collaborative administration of nasal prong O2 to increase oxygen saturation. Conclusion: The independent treatment by nurses for CHF patients is by providing nasal prong oxygen therapy to shortness of breath patients as one way to help reduce shortness of breath, the handling is expected to make patients feel more comfortable and shortness of breath is reduced.
