Abstract
Background: The family is an important part of the family health of mental patients because the family is the closest person as support and motivation for the recovery of clients. In the process of healing clients with mental disorders are helped by the provision of treatment. From the treatment process there are still many cases that often experienced recurrence. Objective: To describe the application of action with medical education on families with mental disorders in Sruweng Health Center. Method: This scientific paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach to two caregivers with one family member having a mental disorder. Data obtained through interviews and observations about treatment knowledge addressed to families after treatment education is given. The source of the questions will be taken from the media used later in the form of leaflets. Results: Before taking action on health education the ability on P1 got a score of 40. After taking action on ability P1 experienced an increase in score of 50 and getting a final score of 90. For the results of the analysis of ability P2 before conducted health education the ability on P2 get a final score of 80. It can be concluded P2 has increased ability more than P1. Recommended: Nurses are advised to apply medical education to families about how to care for family members with mental disorders, especially how to consume the right medicine.
