Abstract
Background: Gout that attacks the elderly can cause disruption of activity, the sending disease is caused by high levels of deep uric acid. Uric acid levels in the blood exceeds the normal limit causing the accumulation of uric acid in the joints and other body organs. The percentage of gout sufferers in Indonesia is 11.9% and in the middle rank is 26.4%. One of the right actions in patients. Purpose: Describe nursing care by applying ginger compress therapy to reduce acute pain in uric acid sufferers in Giwangretno village of sruweng sub-district. Method: This scientific paper uses a descriptive method with a case study approach in two elderly patients who experience gout pain by compressing ginger 5 times in 5 days. Result: The results of the assessment of two elderly men, obtained assessment results Tn.S before the pain scale 6 ginger compresses after the pain scale 2 ginger compresses and Tn.F before the pain scale 7 ginger compresses after the pain scale 2 ginger compresses that appears is acute pain. The intervention is ginger compresses. Implementation is to compress the ginger of both patients. Evaluation that there is a decrease in the pain scale of the two patients after a ginger compress.
