Abstract

Background: The storage of medicines is an inseparable part of all pharmaceutical activities at both hospital and community pharmacies. There are some purposes of medicine storage activities. Some of them are to maintain the quality of medicines, avoid the irresponsible use of medicines, maintain the availability of medicine stocks, and facilitate the search for medicines. To achieve such purposes, there must be a good and standard storage system. The evaluation of medicine storage at the hospitals of Kebumen regency is necessary in order to maintain the quality of medicines so that they can be stored properly. The evaluation covers the storage method resting upon the Minister of Health regulation No. 72 of 2016 as well as the storage conditions pursuant to the regulation of the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of 2010. Purpose: This study aimed to find out the method of medicine storage based upon the Minister of Health regulation No. 72 of 2016 and the storage conditions pursuant to the regulation of the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of 2010 at the hospitals of Kebumen regency. Method: The descriptive observational design deployed a check-list compiled from the Minister of Health regulation No. 72 of 2016 for the storage method and the regulation of the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of 2010. Results: Anchored in the results of percentages, the condition of medicine warehouse at hospital A conformed to the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of 2010 with the percentage of 79.2% categorized as good. Hospital B was in conformity with the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of 2010 with the percentage of 87.5% categorized as very good. Hospital C conformed to the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of 2010 with the percentage of 83.3% categorized as very good. In the meantime, the medicine storage method in the warehouse of hospital A conformed to the Minister of Health regulation No. 72 of 2016 with the percentage of 71.4% categorized as good. Hospital B was in conformity with the Minister of Health regulation No. 72 of 2016 with the percentage 85.7% categorized as very good. Subsequently, hospital C conformed to the Minister of Health regulation No. 72 of 2016 with the percentage of 81.0% categorized as very good. Conclusion: On average, the condition of medicine storage warehouses of the three hospitals located in Kebumen regency is scored 83.3% in terms of their conformity with the regulation of the Director General of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices of 2010 which means very good. Meanwhile, the average percentage of the medicine storage methods reach 79.4%, meaning that it is good in compliance with the Minister of Health regulation No.72 of 2016.
