Abstract

Binahong leaf (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) is a medical plants used for various types of treatments, one of which is as an anticancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of toxicity from the leaf binahong. Binahong extract is done by the maseration method using methanol solvents. The research method for toxicity tests is Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Use 10 Artemia salina Leach and divided into 5 groups with concentrations of 0, 100, 500, 1000, 1500 μg/mL and have been carried out 3 times replication. Data was obtained after 24 hours of the larvae and conducted a probit analysis to get the Lethality Concentration 50 (LC50). Result of this research showed that the extract of methanol leaf binahong contain Flavonoids, Saponins, and tannin. Binahong leaf has toxicity value with Lethality Concentration 50 (LC50) was 581 μg/mL, this show that the extract of methanol leaf binahong is toxic.
