Abstract
Background, ganitri leaf (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) is one of the natural plants that can be used to treat of inflammation. Research purpose, the aim of this study was to find out the anti inflmmatiory activity of ganitri leaf aquadest exstract (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) againts carrageenan-induced white wistar rats. Methods, this study used Witer method at 25 wistar male rats which had been divided into 5 group. Group I is a positive control (diclofenac sodium) , group II as a negative control (CMC-Na), group III, IV, and V as a of extract 50, 100, and 200 mg/kgBW. Each of them were given 1 hour after carrageenan 2% induced. Edema volume of the feet of rats was measured usinga plastymometer every 15 minutes for 3 hours. Result, the results showed that the ganitri leaf (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb) aquadest extract grup 200 mg/kgBW had a best anti-inflammatory effect because it has the highest percentage of anti-inflammatory effects and has a p < 0,05 or significantly different when compared to the positive and negative control groups. Conclusion, Based on the results of the study, the anti-inflammatory effect on the edema volume of mouse feet is 200 mg/kgBW. Recommendation, recommendations from this study are that further research needs to be done using different methods and solvents.
