Abstract
Background: Labor pain is identical with the one to be undertaken. Physiologically, pain occurs when the muscles of the uterus are having contraction in the effort of opening the cervix and pushing the baby's head towards the pelvis. First stage labor pain is a physiological process caused by the dilation of the cervix, uterine muscle contraction hypoxia, ischemia of the uterine corpus and the stretching of the lower part of uterine segment and as well as nerve compression in the cervix. Endorphin massage is really able to reduce labor pain in the first stage of active phase. The application of endorphin massage was performed to Mrs. N, a 23 year-old mother during the first stage of active phase labor in private midwifery clinic of Midwife Siti Maemunah, Amd. Keb Kedaleman Wetan, Puring, Kebumen. Objective: To provide a qualified comprehensive midwifery care to Mrs. N by applying endorphin massage in the first stage of active phase labor. Method: This scientific paper is a qualitative descriptive with case study design. The instruments used are observation sheet (for pain and pain scale), stationary and a watch for monitoring. The primary data obtained through interviews and observations. The secondary data was obtained from literary study. The data analysis was done by reduction, presentation and conclusion. Result: After having endorphin massage, the pain scale of Mrs. N changed - from pain 5-8 became pain scale 7-9. Conclusion: The comprehensive delivery care has been applied well in accordance with the maternal affection and the implementation of endorphin massage was able to reduce the labor pain of the first stage.
