Abstract

Baekgreund: Mammary tumors almost always give a scary impression to women. Nursing interventions include independent and collaborative interventions. Pharmacological therapy with treatment in the form of surgery to remove the tumor (lumpectomy) and this treatment can be a special burden and a separate threat for patients. Independent intervention, among others in the form of relaxation, while collaborative intervention in the form of pharmacological administration. Non-pharmacological interventions include physical agent therapy and cognitive behavioral interventions.One of the nursing interventions used to reduce anxiety is benson relaxation therapi. Objective: To apply the action of giving benson therapy to clients with anxiety problems in the Terate Room of Dr. Soedinnan Hospital, Kebumen Method: The research uses analytic descriptive research method with a case study approach in three patients pre and post Jumpectomy surgery. Data was obtained through observation sheets and questionnaires in each patient. The instrument uses the benson therapy observation sheet and the Amsterdam Pre Operative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) anxiety level questionnaire. After a study was conducted on each patient and a nursing diagnosis was detennined,then the action given was Benson therapy which was carried out for three days with 15 minutes duration for each clien. Result: After the Benson relaxation intervention was performed the result showed a decrease in anxiety. Of the three patient decreased anxiety at a mild score ( 15 X) which initially had moderate anxiety (9 S X < 15)and mild. Whereas for the level of benson therapy knowledge which was initially sufficient and less good. Recommendation: Benson relaxation is recommended to be applied to patients with anxiety who will undergo surgery.
