Abstract

Background, 40-50% cases of tuberculosis occur on children under 15 years old from the total population of TB sufferers worldwide. Tuberculosis cases in children in Indonesia that is identified from the TB program reach 9% out of 10- 15% in estimation. Hence, it is important to consider medication adherence so that the patient’s quality of life gets better and the therapeutic targets are met. Objective, the purpose of this study was to find out the description and correlation between the characteristics of respondents and the adherence. Method, this study used observational non-experimental research. The sampling technique used was total sampling method. The data obtained were analyzed using chi square test. Results, the results of this study showed that there were 36 male patience (64,3%), 46 children aged 0-5 years old (82,1%), and 40 children from the general category (71,4%). Those who were categorized into compliance criteria were 46 people (82,1%) and those who were not obedient were 10 people (17,9%). There is a significant correlation between education and income with drug-taking compliance yet there is not significant correlation between sex, age, and occupation with compliance . Conclusion, the treatment of pulmonary Tuberculosis in children in Wijayakusuma Kebumen Hospital indicates a good level of compliance.
